IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine men's and women's soccer unveils their 2022 schedules today with tickets available and on sale.

Each program opens their regular season on a Thursday night against Pac-12 competition starting with the reigning Big West regular season and tournament champion women's soccer squad at home, August 18, with a grudge match against Cal. The 2021 season was highlighted by many matchups with a double overtime shutout win at Cal among the best that dished the Golden Bears their first loss of the year.

Men's soccer, coming off a Big West regular season title and appearance in the Big West Tournament final, begins on the road at NCAA Tournament squad UCLA on August 25.

Both programs test themselves with exhibition matches ahead of the season with women's soccer on the road for each at Cal Poly Pomona and San Diego while men's soccer plays at Anteater Stadium twice to tune up with San Diego State on Sunday, August 14, and CSU San Bernardino Saturday, August 20.

Home slates include non-conference visits fromNicholls, Wyoming, and CSUNfor women's soccer and Cornell, UCF, Saint Mary's, and 2021 NCAA Tournament participant Loyola Marymount for men's soccer. Like last season, every 2022 home matchup at Anteater Stadium will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

One doubleheader dons the schedule over Labor Day Weekend with a Friday double-showing September 2 starting with men's soccer hosting Cal at 5:00 p.m. followed by a 7:30 p.m. start for women's soccer against San Jose State.

Big West play begins in late September for both programs as they look to defend their regular season titles. The women begin on the 18th with home dates against UC Davis (9/22), Cal State Fullerton (10/2), Long Beach State (10/9), CSUN (10/13), and Hawai'i (10/27). The men start Sept. 28th at home vs. Cal State Fullerton with added home opponents of Sacramento State (10/8), UC Santa Barbara (10/15), and CSU Bakersfield (10/19).

Big West Tournaments begin at the tail end of October and into November at campus sites. Men's soccer continues to hold each game at a campus site of the higher seed each game. Women's soccer will adopt the men's soccer tournament format this season with the top six team in the Big West standings earning a tournament berth, first round matchups on Sunday, October 30, held at the campus site of the higher seed, first and second seeds earning a first round bye, and the overall regular season champion and No. 1 seed hosting the semifinals and final much like the Anteaters did in the 2022 season.
