Almost Home Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Sherman, Illinois. Our mission is to provide homeless pets a temporary home until their forever one comes along.

Almost Home Animal Rescue (NI) is an established Animal Welfare charity in Northern Ireland. Based in Moira, we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome companion animals and other small animals across Northern Ireland.

Welcome to Assisi Animal Sanctuary

Founded in 1997, Assisi Animal Sanctuary is a local independent animal welfare charity in Northern Ireland, providing shelter for up to 700 companion animals in our Sanctuary each year.

Ask your local vets or dog groomers if you can put up a flyer on their premises. Speak to your local rescue as they may allow you to advertise them on their website or social media. In some cases, a rescue may take in surrendered dogs.

Rescues are generally own and run privately and funded by donations run by volunteers. Some have a main location but most do not and have fosters. A shelter house's all the pets at a location and is either partially funded or all funded by Gov.

A slip lead is the best tool. Treats would also be helpful. If a dog has been wandering for a while, he may be very hungry and more willing to approach you if you have food. Try throwing a few treats toward the dog and then turn sideways so as not to frighten him.

We're open for general browsing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12–4pm. Wednesday and Friday mornings are by pre-arranged appointment only.

Rescue centres in the UK, such as Last Chance Animal Rescue Centre, have a good reputation for providing the best possible care for every dog, including those with aggression issues.

Owners Surrender Forms

As a rescue we do have a waiting list for Owner Surrenders so please be patient with us. Once your completed Owner Surrender form has been submitted a staff member will contact you when we have space to take in your pet.

The ideal time

The exact time that is best for a puppy to go to its new home can vary by situation, but most breeders and veterinarians agree that 8 weeks of age is a good minimum. Some states have laws in place preventing puppies from being sold any earlier.

Contact your local animal shelter

Many animal shelters, rescues, SPCAs, humane societies, and municipal animal controls have programs to keep people and pets together. At minimum they can often refer you to credible resources in your own community that may be able to help.

To help with the process, try to focus on the positive memories, create a memorial or memory book, and seek support from friends, family, or a pet loss support group. Remember that it is normal to feel sad, but over time, the pain will lessen, and the positive memories will remain.

There are various things to consider when adopting a rescue dog, such as size, temperament, and living situation. By taking the time to research which breed or breeds of dog would be the best fit for your lifestyle and personality, you will set yourself up for success in finding the perfect four-legged friend!
