Apple could owe you up to $349 in the iPhone 7 settlement. Here’s who qualifies (2024)

(Gray News) - If you’ve ever owned an iPhone 7, then Apple might owe you hundreds of dollars.

According to a class-action settlement, users who owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between Sept. 16, 2016, and Jan. 3, 2023, and complained to Apple about problems audio issues or needed repairs could qualify for a payout.

People who paid Apple for repairs or a replacement could receive up to $349, while others who complained about the issue to Apple but did not pay out of pocket for repairs are eligible for up to $125.

The deadline to submit a claim is June 3.

The lawsuit was originally filed in 2019 by plaintiffs Joseph Casillas and De’Jhontai Banks. The plaintiffs alleged that the problem was related to an audio IC chip and manufacturing flaw.

Apple denied the allegations, including that the phone model had any audio issues. However, the two sides reached an agreement that Apple would pay $35 million as a settlement to avoid further costs.

Qualified users will need a notice identification and confirmation code from Apple.
