Biscoff oats for breakfast? Sign me up! These cookie butter overnight oats are perfect for when you want a sweet treat but want to squeeze some healthy foods in too.

Lotus Biscoff spread is made from a certain type of ground caramelized biscuit (AKA cookie in the US). It has the spreadable texture of peanut butter and the flavor of brown sugar and cinnamon. You can purchase the uncrushed Lotus Biscoff biscuits as well.

Let me tell you, they taste amazing. I have so many Biscoff breakfast ideas to use this amazing flavor. How about baked oats Biscoff or a Biscoff overnight oatmeal smoothie? Yum!

Here, I’ve decided to make a blended oats recipe using cookie butter. Blended oatmeal is a trend I’ve seen on TikTok, and I’m loving it.

To make blended oatmeal recipes, all you have to do is blend all of your oatmeal ingredients. Then either take the blender oatmeal and bake it, or use it for overnight oats.

Baked blended oats has the texture of cake or other baked goods. (Makes sense, since it’s essentially creating oat flour, right?) This overnight blended oatmeal recipe is more like a cookie dough or batter.

So, if you’ve been looking for a cheap and easy meal prep that satisfies a sweet tooth, I hope you give these Biscoff overnight protein oats a try. Blender oatmeal might become your new favorite way to make oats!

🥘 Blended Overnight Oats Ingredients

Here’s what you need to make Biscoff overnight oats without protein powder:

  • Dry oatmeal
  • Plain Greek yogurt (I used whole milk)
  • Biscoff cookie butter spread
  • Milk (dairy milk or plant milk, such as oat milk, soy milk, or almond milk)
  • Cinnamon
  • Chocolate chips
  • Biscoff biscuits and whipped cream (optional oatmeal toppings)

One more ingredient you may want to have on hand is maple syrup (or sugar free syrup). This way, you can add more sweetener if these easy Biscoff overnight oats aren’t sweet enough for you.

To make overnight Biscoff oats, you also need an overnight oats container and a food processor. I like to use a mason jar with lid (AKA a glass canning jar). The lid helps keep dust and food crumbs out of the jar while it sits in the fridge.

You don’t have to use a glass jar, however, as about any food-safe container can work for overnight oats. Use Tupperware, other plastic containers, a bowl, or a large cup. Simply cover the container with plastic wrap if it doesn’t have a lid.

What kind of oats do you use for overnight oats?

Use quick oats or old fashioned rolled oats for this recipe. Instant oats may lead to overly mushy overnight oatmeal and steel cut oats may result in hard overnight oats.

Where can I buy Biscoff spread?

You can buy Lotus Biscoff cookie butter spread in many major grocery stores in the US. Check in the international aisle with the specialty European foods. Another option is Trader Joe’s speculoos cookie butter. You can also buy Biscoff on Amazon here.

Where can I buy Biscoff biscuits?

Biscoff cookies can be a little harder to find than the spread. I was able to find them in the international aisle of a supermarket near me. If you can’t find them locally, you can buy cookie butter cookies on Amazon here.

🔪 How to Make Blended Overnight Oats

Here are the step-by-step instructions for how to blend oats into creamy overnight oats Biscoff:

Blended Overnight Oats Recipe (Biscoff Overnight Oats) (3)
  1. Place the rolled oats, yogurt, Biscoff cookie spread, milk, and cinnamon in a large food processor or high-speed blender. Blend until smooth. (Note: a regular blender may not be strong enough to blend the oats well.)
  1. If the ingredients are sticking to the sides, stop the processor and scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula. Then continue blending until the mixture is uniform.
  1. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand (or use the “pulse” setting on the food processor to add them quickly). They’re adding a bit of texture to our cookie butter “batter.”
  1. Divide the overnight oats mixture between two jars. Put the lids on the jars (or use plastic wrap) and refrigerate overnight.
  1. Right before serving, top the overnight oats with whipped cream and a Biscoff biscuit (if desired). Enjoy chilled.

Should you blend oats for overnight oats?

You do not have to blend oats for overnight oats. However, this is an overnight oats blended recipe. I recommend trying regular and blender oats recipes so you can decide which type you like best.

You might have to melt Biscoff spread before adding to the rest of the ingredients if you skip the blender. Otherwise, your oats may have chunks of cookie butter in it (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing).

How long should overnight oats sit?

Enjoy this easy breakfast straight from the fridge after at least 8 hours. The prepared oats can sit in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.

Can overnight oats be warmed up?

You can warm some overnight oats recipes in the microwave, if you wish. I don’t recommend heating this recipe, as it may kill the beneficial bacteria (AKA probiotics) in the yogurt.

️️🌡️ How long will overnight oats last in the fridge?

Overnight oatmeal is made for meal prepping! Keep this cookie butter overnight oatmeal recipe in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. You can double the recipe if you’d like to make more jars at once.

You can freeze some overnight oats recipes, but sometimes the mixture can separate with thawing. For overnight oats without blending, the ingredients may become too mushy when defrosted.

🥣️ Biscoff Oatmeal Substitutions

If you don’t like Biscoff, no worries! There are lots of other toppings and mix-ins for oatmeal that you can use instead. Here are some ideas:

  • Fresh berries (blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, etc.)
  • Peaches
  • Banana
  • Shredded coconut
  • Jam or jelly
  • Dried cherries
  • Dried apricots
  • Raisins
  • Sliced almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Pecans
  • Peanut butter and other nut butters
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Hemp seeds
  • Cocoa nibs

I’ve seen overnight oats with a chocolate shell. using melted chocolate chips. Use chips made with a keto or low carb sweetener to reduce the sugar added. Melted Biscoff spread is another delicious way to top oatmeal.

You could also make overnight oatmeal with other types of cookies. For example, use crushed Oreos for cookies and cream overnight oatmeal. Yummy!

Is there gluten free Biscoff spread?

Using certified gluten-free oats in this recipe will not get you gluten free overnight oats. That’s because Biscoff spread and biscuits both contain gluten. Unfortunately, there is no Biscoff spread without gluten (source).

Luckily, it’s possible to make your own gluten free cookie butter! This recipe for gluten free Biscoff spread uses Schar Gluten Free Spekulatius biscuits or homemade GF Biscoff biscuits.

📋 Biscoff Overnight Oats Calories

One serving of Biscoff overnight oats has 534 calories, 52.8 grams net carbs, and 18.1 grams protein. There are 22.7 grams of sugar in this recipe, which includes about 16 grams of added sugar. This nutrition info doesn’t include any toppings you choose to add (like whipped cream).

Does blending oats destroy fibre?

Blending oats doesn’t technically destroy fiber, but it does chop it into smaller pieces. As a result of this change, the fiber may impact the body differently than it would without blending (source).

💭 Expert Tips from a Dietitian

This is a level 2 recipe (transition or weight maintenance). Are Biscoff overnight oats healthy? With about 16 grams of added sugar per serving, Biscoff oats aren’t the healthiest option around. However, it’s possible to fit this treat in on slimming world, weight watchers, and other weight loss plans.

Like other overnight oats recipes, this recipe offers some portion control. It provides plenty of cholesterol-lowering fiber from the oats. You’re also getting calcium and protein from the Greek yogurt and milk (kefir or skyr can substitute, if needed).

If you were going to eat Biscoff cookies or a Biscoff cake, and enjoy this recipe instead, you’re likely making a healthier choice. Biscoff oatmeal is also likely lower sugar than many breakfast pastries. On the other hand, overnight oats with nuts and fruit are likely more nutritious than Biscoff oats.

As always, it’s not one specific food or treat that will make or break our diet quality. Instead, it’s our overall dietary pattern that matters most.

The 16 grams of added sugar in this recipe doesn’t include any toppings, such as Biscoff biscuits and whipped cream. After adding the toppings, your breakfast may exceed the recommended added sugar limits. This is 25 grams per day for women and 36 grams per day for men (source).

It’s ok to have a diet that doesn’t perfectly meet recommendations all of the time. However, I wouldn’t make a habit of overconsuming added sugars on a daily basis. You’re in the best position to determine whether this recipe is ultimately helping you cut back on sugar in your diet or add more.

How to Make Biscoff Overnight Oats Low Calorie

To make low calorie Biscoff overnight oats, swap whole milk yogurt for nonfat in this recipe. You can also use skim milk instead of 2% or whole milk. This will give you a Biscoff oats recipe under 500 calories.

One more thing you can do is use low carb chocolate chips instead of regular. Lily’s is a brand that tastes great and will save around 15-25 calories per serving.

Keep in mind that if you’re using this as a meal, you don’t want calories too low. For example, a 100 calories overnight oats recipe isn’t enough to nourish you (without some higher energy side dishes).

Recipe FAQ

How to make Biscoff overnight oats vegan?

Biscoff spread and Biscoff biscuits are two foods that are surprisingly vegan, so making vegan Biscoff overnight oats is easy. Just use your favorite plant-based milk, vegan chocolate chips, and plain vegan yogurt in this recipe. Make sure to choose a vegan yogurt that is Greek yogurt style for the best results.

Why are my overnight oats sour?

Make sure to refrigerate your overnight oats while they soak. Leaving the jar out on the counter is the biggest reason they may turn sour. Keeping overnight oats out at room temperature for more than 1-2 hours can also increase the risk of food poisoning.

Why do my overnight oats taste chalky?

Chalky overnight oats are usually either due to specific ingredients or a lack of liquid. Make sure you’re adding enough liquid to your oats (such as milk or water). The oats thicken more as they soak. If you used protein powder in your oats, you may want to try another brand you enjoy more.

Why are my overnight oats gummy?

Gummy or pasty overnight oats are usually due to not adding enough liquid to the recipe. The oats will look very liquid-y when you first make the mixture. They thicken considerably as the oats absorb liquid during the soak period. If you didn’t add enough liquid initially, you may end up with oat paste.

How do you make overnight oats texture better?

Some like thicker overnight oats and others like a thinner oat porridge. To thin, add more milk or water. To thicken, use chia seeds or ground flax in your overnight oats mix. The yogurt in this recipe also helps to make the oats thicker and less watery.
