During your time in Costa Rica, you’ll have the opportunity to try some fun co*cktails. Here are a few Costa Rican co*cktails that you could incorporate at your wedding festivities.
Guaro
Costa Rica’s known for guaro, the nation’s most popular liquor, made from sugar cane. Guaro is a clear liquor with a neutral flavor similar to vodka, and you’ll see the famous brand of Cacique Guaro sold across the country.
Chiliguaro
The chiliguaro is the most well-known shot throughout Costa Rica, and you’ll find it at pretty much any bar you go to. One of the main reasons it is so popular is because the liquor is disguised behind the spicy taste, no chaser needed. The shot is made of tomato juice, Tabasco hot sauce, lime juice, and guaro, with a salt and pepper rim.
Pura Vida
Pura vida means many things in Costa Rica, and while it literally translates to “pure life,” it is used to say hello, goodbye, and that everything’s “all good.” The Pura Vida co*cktail is similar to a rum punch and resembles one of Costa Rica’s stunning sunsets. The tropical drink is made with pineapple juice, orange juice, triple sec, and guaro.
Guaro Sour
A Guaro Sour is sort of Costa Rica’s take on a whiskey sour, but much more tropical. The refreshing drink is made from guaro, club soda, simple syrup, and club soda, and garnished with a lime wedge.
Coco Loco
While the famed Coco Loco may have its roots in Colombia, the co*cktail gets a Costa Rican customization with guaro. The Coco Loco is typically served in a green coconut with a mix of coconut milk, guaro, and often several other liquors. Since it’s served in a coconut, this drink is totally Instagram-worthy!
