Is Dracula Untold 2 coming out? ›

Dracula Untold 2 remains unconfirmed and unlikely due to budget issues and the failed Dark Universe franchise. The Mummy replaced Dracula Untold as the start of the Dark Universe, leading to the cancellation of other planned films.

Despite its ambitious plot, Dracula Untold lacked gravitas. The characterization of Dracula, Mehmed, and Mirena didn't go a step beyond their stereotypical roles as anti-hero, wicked villain, and damsel in distress, respectively.

The Master Vampire, also known as Caligula, is the overarching antagonist of the 2014 dark fantasy horror-action film Dracula Untold. Losing his first wife made Dracula reject God as a cruel, ungrateful tyrant. He vowed to curse him forever and steal the world away from him. Losing his second wife made him loathe humanity, dismissing them as greedy, petty, false and unworthy (while he is worse) and yearning to crush them.

Dracula was at its best as a period piece, allowing Moffat and Gatiss to languish in the gorgeous gothic settings and Hammer Horror inspired mood. They couldn't replicate that tone with the modern setting and they also didn't seem to have a reason to do so beyond the gimmick.

The last scene is set in the modern world and Vlad still looks the same, which means he became a Dracula and lived on for centuries. The blonde woman Vlad talks to seems to be the reincarnated form of his dead wife and they reunited in this time and world as they had once thought of earlier in the movie.
