What are fat bombs?

Fat bombs are typically bite-sized snacks or desserts made mostly with fats, such as coconut oil, nut butter, avocado, or grass-fed butter.

They usually have little to no sweetener and are low in protein and carbs.

They are very filling, so after one or two, you should feel full. And while they're not overly sweet, they are the perfect cure to satisfy your sweet tooth!

What do you think about the revelation by Dr. Mindy that a fat bomb very low in carb/Cal can be ingested during a long water fast to stave off hunger but will not break your fast? Are your recipes compliant with this theory?

      Hi Nicky,

I'm just not sure, I'm not familiar with Dr. Mindy's revelation. I beleive you need to avoid carbs and protein (except protein in extremely small amounts, such as in bone broth) and a little bit of fat is ok when fasting.

I'm not sure if my fat bombs would qualify or not? My almond butter fat bombs have 2 carbs (1 net carb), 1 gram of protein, and 9 grams of fat. I think it may be a personal decision. I typically stick to liquids myself with a small amount of MCT oil and 0 total carbs, but that's just me.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

I am dying to make the keto no bake cinnamon donut holes. I don't have almond butter on hand and here in NOLA a tropical storm is keeping us at home. What can I substitute for the Almond Butter?

      Hi Katy,

The almond butter adds thickness, substance, and helps with the texture. You can replace it with any kind of nut butter you prefer. If you don't have nut butter, you could try replacing it with some softened coconut oil or butter, but I haven't tried either so I am unsure exactly how they would turn out. I hope this helps, and please be safe!!!
