Ocular Disease Scans
Current technology in eyecare allows us to see, measure, and diagnose problems in ways that were not imaginable in recent years. We are very blessed to have an OCT (optical coherence tomographer) at our practice. This amazing machine allows us to better diagnose and treat many diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetes, and numerous others. With this technology you can be confident that you are getting the most up-to-date care and treatments.
Wellness Exam Scans
For patients that do not currently have disease or have family members with history of disease. We have a quick painless screening test that can alert our doctors to disease years before your vision is affected. We have used this screening technology to diagnose sleep apnea, diabetes changes, cholesterol plaques in the eye, heart valve problems, and even high blood pressure damage. We recommend yearly wellness exam scans on all of our patients.
Ocular and Retinal Photography
At Insight Eyecare we have invested in multiple different types of cameras to document and monitor both the outside and inside of your eye. This allows for better year to year comparisons of the changes to your eyes. Digital photos allow better resolution and storage for years of clarity. The retina is the part of your eye that receives the image of what you are looking at, similar to the film in a camera. A quick photo helps detect the presence of disease, improves tracking minor changes, and provides an opportunity for you to view the pathology or changes to your eyes.
Many eye problems can develop without warning and progress with no symptoms. Early on, you might not notice any change in your vision. However, diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, as well as other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure, can be detected with a thorough exam of the retina.
