MyPLAYER is one of the most exciting aspects of the 2K-developed sports games. Whether you're playing wrestling, basketball, or golf, MyPLAYER is essential to the experience. You can create your own character and take them on the journey to superstardom. In PGA Tour 2K23, you can select from several Archetypes. This is the starting point in terms of your MyPLAYER's stats. It will provide you with certain stats meant to fit the play style the Archetype centers around.

There are five total Archetypes, each with a specialty. Certain courses favor one over the other, so it is ultimately your decision on which MyPLAYER Archetype you choose. You can drive for the green right off the tee, send your shots along the fairway with great accuracy, or become a masterful putter. Although there is an Archetype for everyone, they are not all equal. Each one has its purpose, but some are much more useful than others.
5 Greensman
Greensman is a MyPLAYER Archetype for those who like to putt. Just about everything else is a weakness with this selection. There are some long and winding courses in PGA Tour 2K23, making the Greensman Archetype something akin to a "hard mode" for your character.
It doesn't have the power to get you to the green in one shot. It also doesn't bode well for the character's overall shot accuracy. Recovering from a misplaced swing will be near impossible, but if you can get on the green, you're going to sink a putt with no problem.
4 Sculptor
The Sculptor Archetype comes with a strength in shot shaping and a weakness in distance control. Considered a 'ball flight artist,' those who choose Sculptor can hit their ball down the fairway, around turns, and towards the green with ease. The movement of the ball is the only focus.

Putting is pretty awful with this MyPLAYER Archetype, but a Sculptor should be able to get the ball fairly close to the hole. It will certainly take a few swings, however, as the power statistic is not as high as it is in some other choices.
3 Rhythm
Accuracy is the name of the game with the Rhythm Archetype in PGA Tour 2K23. Tough swings are made simple, but the distance that comes with major power is missing. The same can be said for ball movement. The ability to shape the ball's path and land some eye-catching shots isn't something you'll find with a Rhythm character. This is a straightforward ball placement build.
It is all about the quality of the swing over doing something flashy. If you find yourself on the rough or stuck in a hazard, you'll escape easily. Close to the green? You'll be able to chip the ball right into the hole, or set it close to the pin, at least. Then you can sink the putt and move on to the next one with solid numbers in the putt path and putt weight stats.
2 Woodsman
For a more all-around style of player, go with the Woodsman Archetype. There are a variety of courses in PGA Tour 2K23, so you can't go wrong by getting a bit of everything added to your character. None of the stats are incredible, but they are all respectable. Aside from putting, that is. Putting is the one weakness that comes with choosing Woodsman. And it is extremely lacking.

If you decide that Woodsman is the way to go, you'll be more than capable of getting the ball to the green quickly and painlessly. Hitting longer shots and placing the ball in a good spot for the next swing won't be difficult. You'll just want to focus on placing the ball near the hole, so you don't have to worry about hitting long putts. With this Archetype, the shorter the putt, the better. Lock that down, and you'll be keeping up with every other golfer on tour.
1 Powerhouse
The undisputed best MyPLAYER Archetype in PGA Tour 2K23 is Powerhouse. There are some massive golf courses and some powerful golfers that you'll find yourself up against. Whether you're battling Tiger Woods or guest golfer Michael Jordan, having immense power is very helpful. You'll have to worry about ball control here, but if you can compensate for the lack of stat points elsewhere, Powerhouse will be your best choice in the game.
The ball will get to the green in no time, and you won't have to play catch-up if you potentially miss a couple of putts. Instead, the opposing golfers will be the ones chasing you down as they try to match the power behind your swing. The ability to get a hole-in-one is possible, though it will take a bit of luck. An Eagle or a Birdie will be much more likely with how frequently you'll get on the green with multiple strokes left before you reach par.
