question time:When using an angled plate loaded sled style leg press, do you count the weight (or a portion) of the sled in your lifted weights?fun face.. nursing two sore knees because I swapped from a hinge style with little base weight/resistance to a speed with a new gym and didn't factor the sled weight and well.. yea....

amgym19 : Whenever there is a change of equipment, such as when I go to a new gym, I always start out with very low weights to get the feel of the machine. I've learned that they are all different. It's worth spending a few minutes warming up by working up from minimal weights rather than risk injury by overloading.

Brandonw1982 : Average sled will weight 100-140 lbs to start. My leg press at the house is 120. I count that in with the weights I add to get total press weight. Ouch on the knees, sorry to hear that:(

pah68 : I don't, but oddly enough I do for the hack squat.

kalashkid : I don't, mostly because it's hard to account for sled weight of different machines over time and I just like my numbers to be consistent as possible between different kinds of machine

I’m an older lifter with arthritis in my feet and ankles so I do medium weight high rep belt squats. It helps keep the joints happy and the bar off my back

dwideman : I try to log what I lift, plus if I am at another gym with different sled weight, I can compare.
