The Baltimore Ravens don't have any retired numbers officially, but they might as well. The team has had a few numbers it hasn't issued since legendary players retired, such as No. 75 for Jonathan Ogden, No. 52 for Ray Lewis and No. 20 for Ed Reed. Now, it's safe to add No. 55 to that list in honor of Terrell Suggs.
Linebacker David Ojabo found that out the hard way. The second-year pass rusher asked to wear Suggs' No. 55 and even brought his request to team owner Steven Biscotti. However, the franchise legend turned Ojabo's request down.
“Suggs not letting me," Ojabo said. "We had discussions, got Bisciotti involved a little bit, but that’s above me. He’s a legend. So I’m going to stick with 90. I had to try, but he’s not going for it.”
The No. 55 has significance to Ojabo, as he wore it during his time in college with the Michigan Wolverines. But it appears he will keep the No. 90 he donned upon joining the Ravens.
Ojabo likely would've likely been a first-round pick in 2022 but suffered a torn ACL at his pro day that hurt his draft stock. Despite the injury, the Ravens snagged him with the No. 45 pick in the second round. He returned for the regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals, posting a sack and a forced fumble in 20 snaps.
Suggs is someone who needs no introduction in Baltimore. He played with the Ravens from 2003 to 2018 and is the team's all-time leader in sacks with 132.5. After leaving the Ravens, Suggs spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and the Chiefs in 2019, winning a ring in Kansas Ci.
Ojabo would like to join Suggs in the record books one day, but it won't be in his No. 55.

Stephen J. Bisciotti (Italian pronunciation: [bіˈʃɔtti]; born April 10, 1960) is an American business executive and the current majority owner of the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL).
The idea of Terrell Suggs wearing any threads beyond the Baltimore Ravens' purple and black was Charm City chicanery for 16 years. Suggs and his dominating defensive deeds were Sunday staples at M&T Bank Stadium from the moment he was welcomed to Baltimore as the 10th overall pick of the 2003 draft.
She was pretty much in her final stages and I couldn't be in both places at once, both Arizona and Baltimore. I couldn't look after her and train, work out and go back to Baltimore. I just couldn't do both. I was going to sign back and I decided at the last minute I can't, I couldn't.
In 2025, they could add two more. Outside linebacker Terrell Suggs and guard Marshal Yanda will be eligible for the first time and have a chance to join Jonathan Ogden, Ray Lewis, and Ed Reed as first-ballot Hall of Famers.
Entering his 12th season as the Ravens' longest-tenured player, Tucker is having no problem staying motivated during training camp. He's still chasing perfection, knowing his ability to kick field goals in clutch situations gives the Ravens an important advantage for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
The oldest player on the roster is, of course, punter Sam Koch. The 38-year-old will be entering his 16th NFL season in 2021 and will turn 39 before Week 1. Justin Tucker also raises the total of 30-year-old on the roster at the age of 31.
The Baltimore Ravens player with the most rushing yards in franchise history as of March 2023 is Jamal Lewis with 7,801 yards. This all-time rushing leader is followed by Ray Rice and Lamar Jackson with 6,180 yards and 4,437 yards respectively.
Also without a retired jersey number are the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans, though these teams are less than 30 years old: in this regard, the Texans do not retire numbers but honor player jerseys instead.

While Owens retired in 2010, he was productive even in his final season. While playing for the Cincinnati Bengals in his last campaign, Owens recorded 983 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. His NFL career might have ended years ago, but Owens has been active in other leagues in recent years.
Former Ravens player and the senior advisor to Players Development O. J. Brigance is also the spiritual leader of the team since he was diagnosed with ALS in 2007. President Barack Obama speaks about O.J. Brigance, pictured in the wheelchair, during the Ravens' visit to the White House.
Moon is now a member of the Seattle Seahawks' official broadcast team but was able to visit Nashville in December to be honored by his former franchise at a special luncheon and at Tennessee's game against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
