This slush is full of strawberry and lemon flavor and is so refreshing! Keep it in the freezer and pull it out for your next barbecue or potluck!

I’m a big fan of fruity drinks.

And summer, strawberries, lemons, and stripey straws.

Deck-sitting, flip-flop wearing, and ice cream.

I was tempted to just end this post right there and take a nice tall glass of slush out onto the deck and watch my husband shovel dirt, but I wouldn’t want to halt progress.

We’ve still got “a lot” of summer left (in Manitoba, a lot of summer is maybe a couple months), but I have to say – I’m obsessed.

I have this theory that some nice weather and a good run around outside makes 3 year olds a little more normal. I know when my girl is cooped up inside, she gets a little bit crazy.

A little bit more crazy than your average 3-year-old crazy.

But she could hang around all day outside, even if she’s riding along in the tractor with Dad for hours, or shovelling dirt, or collecting rocks – as long as she’s outside, she’s perfectly happy.

Which leaves me a couple quiet hours in the evenings to sit around, drinking some slush, inside, writing this post about how it’s so nice to be outside in the summer. 🙂

This slush is a recipe I got from Taste of Home, and I’ve been making it for years. I kept the “sensational” from its original title (because it is), but I changed up the juice flavors a bit to suit our tastes. It was time to share! I love slush because you can make it ahead of time, and pull it out for a last minute barbecue or get together. It’s so refreshing and fruity when it’s hot outside, and you can mix up the jello, juice, and fruit flavors to make your own combo!

Yay for summer time!! I am more excited for you guys to get summer weather then I am for me. I hate the summers where I live, but I know you must be sick of cold and snow by now. This drink looks perfect for summer. I would grab one, go to my patio and kick my feet up. Wait maybe I’ll stay inside because 115 degrees is way to hot for me. But I would love to drink this anytime. Pinned! 🙂

Haha, the slush is just as enjoyable if you drink it inside! 🙂 I can’t imagine summer where you live! There are times I can’t even handle summer here — it is probably just as hot, but not for quite as long!

FAQs

What is the difference between pink lemonade and strawberry lemonade? ›

Many big brand companies make pink lemonades using concentrated grape juice; for instance, when looking at the ingredient lists for Minute Maid's regular and pink lemonades, the only differences are that the pink lemonade includes 1% more juice, which can almost certainly be attributed to the added ingredient of grape ...

What is the pink flavor in pink lemonade? ›

That added ingredient is often red food dye, strawberry juice, cranberry juice, or any other fruit juice that gives it a pink hue without overshadowing the lemon flavor. This means the flavor of pink lemonade is mostly just classic lemonade, but with the faint twist of whichever thing it is that's making it pink.

Is pink lemonade healthier than co*ke? ›

Fruit-flavoured fizzy drinks like lemonade and fizzy orange are slightly better choices than cola, but not ideal as your regular drink. The combination of sugar and acid can damage your teeth, and over time, excess calories from a high-sugar diet can lead to weight gain.

Why does pink lemonade taste better than regular lemonade? ›

If you're wondering whether or not pink lemonade differs in taste from the classic yellow-hued drink of summer, the answer is no, the flavor really isn't different from the traditional variety.

What turns pink lemonade pink? ›

Pink lemonade is sometimes colored with cranberry juice, raspberry juice or crushed strawberries, but it's more often colored with red food dye. This may come as a surprise to some, but it's a vast improvement from the way it was dyed when first appearing on the beverage scene in the mid 1800s.

Is pink lemonade just lemonade with food coloring? ›

Pink lemonade is just regular lemonade with red coloring. It should taste just like regular lemonade but..well… pink! To make regular lemonade pink, most people use food dye or a little bit of fruit juice from a red-colored fruit.

Is pink lemonade basically strawberry lemonade? ›

No, pink lemonade is just dyed pink, strawberry lemonade has strawberries or strawberry juice/syrup on it to make the strawberry flavor. Usually pink lemonate is regular lemonade with added food colouring.

Is pink lemonade just strawberry? ›

As early as 1892, E.E. Kellogg's Science in the Kitchen features a pink lemonade recipe calling for “a half a cup of fresh or canned strawberry, red raspberry, currant or cranberry juice” in lieu of cinnamon candies or dirty wash water; and these days there are 'pink' lemonades made with watermelon, strawberry, ...

Is strawberry lemonade pink? ›

Is strawberry lemonade the same as pink lemonade? While both of these drinks have a sweet, lemony flavor, and perfectly pink hue, strawberry lemonade contains strawberries while pink lemonade is usually just dyed pink.

Is pink lemonade actually different? ›

Most pink lemonades, whether store-bought or homemade, don't taste too different from their yellow counterparts. In fact, if they're made with food dyes, they taste exactly like regular lemonade. Of course, if juices or syrups are used, they'll certainly add a hint of fruity flavor.
