1-800 Contacts states that ordering is a three-step process: Find your brand, enter your prescription information, and place your order. But there may actually be more steps, depending on whether you have a valid prescription and how you upload your prescription. To start, use the search feature on the lenses page to find the brand you were prescribed.
Once you find your brand, you'll need to determine how many boxes of contacts to purchase and whether to subscribe for recurring shipments. With a subscription, you'll get 5 percent off future orders. You can delay, skip, or cancel your orders anytime.
After deciding how many boxes to order and adding them to your shopping cart, you'll be asked to provide your prescription. There are two ways to do this. The first way is to upload it to the 1-800 Contacts website by clicking the Upload a Photo button on a web page that asks "How would you like to provide your prescription?" You can also upload your prescription using the 1-800 Contacts app, which is available on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
The second way to provide your prescription is to enter it manually. If you don't have a copy of your prescription handy, you can find it on the side of one of your contact lens boxes, if you have one.
After entering or uploading your vision prescription, you'll be taken to a checkout screen that asks you to enter your shipping address, phone number, email address, and a password that you will use to create an account. You can also indicate whether you want to receive text updates about your order. 1-800 Contacts accepts credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Afterpay. It also accepts flexible savings account (FSA) cards and health savings account (HSA) cards.
If you entered your prescription manually, you'll see a pop-up window that once again asks how you want to confirm your prescription. In addition to the option to upload a copy of your prescription, you'll be given the option to have a 1-800 Contacts employee contact your eye doctor or take an online vision exam for $20.
