After 37 years on the Colorado River, a popular annual motorcycle convention came to an end in Laughlin due to the coronavirus pandemic. But now the engines are revving, and the Laughlin River Run could be riding into a new venue this spring.

Fun in the sun is all but guaranteed in Laughlin, the bustling waterfront city nestled in the southernmost tip of the Silver State. A short 90 miles south of Las Vegas, the Colorado River beckons for days spent boating, jet skiing, fishing, and tour cruising.

Once a boomtown, Laughlin has seen nothing but declines for a dozen years, almost exactly coinciding with the loss of regular airline flights after Sept. 11, 2001. The 2.1 million visitors recorded last year by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is less than half the 1997 peak.

As of January 2024, the property remains closed. Laughlin, Nevada, U.S. The Colorado Belle is a fixed building made to look like a six-deck replica of a 19th-century Mississippi River paddle steamer riverboat, with 1,168 rooms in two seven-story towers.

Oatman Ghost Town is located just 28 miles southeast of Laughlin, making it a perfect day trip destination. The drive takes approximately 45 minutes and offers stunning views of the surrounding desert landscape.

In Laughlin, the river also offers a wide spectrum of recreational activities. Enjoy boating, water skiing, jet skiing and fishing or a refreshing dip in the brisk water.

The bridge is located eight miles south of Laughlin's other bridge, which opened in 1987. There is a third, privately-maintained bridge, called Veterans Bridge, six miles south of the new structure that connects Fort Mohave, Arizona via Aztec Road with the land at the Avi Resort & Casino on the Nevada side.

There is only ONE water taxi running during winter - 9am to 9pm. During summer there are about 4+ water taxi's running.
